Hartford City Center Committee

Committee Size:  11 (currently 1 opening)

What you’ll get:  Be part of a close-knit design community actively promoting and supporting the practice of interior design in Connecticut.  The Hartford City Center Committee organizes and develops a full range of amazing events and programs for CT-based designers and IIDA industry members, giving committee members opportunities to contribute to the city center’s growth and build their professional network in many ways.

What you’ll do:  Open committee positions and responsibilities include:

Membership & Communications Committee

  • Work with Hartford City Center Director and VP of membership on IIDA board of directors on ways to increase membership.
  • Communicate with potential and new IIDA members to answer any questions and make new members feel welcome and involved.
  • Manage a local database of designers, students, and vendors contact information to ensure event information reaches all corners of CT for maximum awareness of IIDA events.
  • Develop a way in which members/non-members can communicate with us to provide feedback.

Professional Development Committee

Committee Size: 12 (currently 5 openings)

What you’ll do:  Open committee positions and responsibilities include:

Director of Events

  • Spearhead the planning of monthly learning events

CIDQ Liaison

  • Coordinate CIDQ training sessions
  • Facilitate exam reimbursement
  • Work with the IIDA NE Communications Committee to publicize names of those who passed exam

Emerging Leaders + Principles Round Table Liaison

  • Coordinate with Emerging Leaders and Membership committee chairs to facilitate knowledge transfer to/from these efforts and Professional Development
CEU Liaison
  • Coordinate getting IDCEC accredited sessions into ABX
  • Manage database of CEUs for website

Communication Liaison

  • Work closely with Communications Committee on all communications
  • Facilitate pre and post-event surveys for input + feedback

Providence City Center Committee

Committee Size:  20 (currently 5 openings)

What you’ll get:  Be part of a close-knit design community actively promoting and supporting the practice of interior design in Rhode Island.  The Providence City Center Committee organizes and develops a full range of amazing events and programs for RI-based designers and IIDA industry members, giving committee members opportunities to contribute to the city center’s growth and build their professional network in many ways.

What you’ll do:  Open committee positions and responsibilities include:

Design Week RI Liaison

  • Membership on Design Week RI Subcommittee
  • Attend all monthly meetings of Design Week RI Subcommittee (March – August)
  • Report back to VP of Providence City Center with opportunities for IIDA NE involvement in Design Week RI
  • Plan, promote and execute a Design Week RI IIDA NE event (develop program, identify and secure venue, develop & manage event budget, identify event sponsors)
  • Work with Communications Committee liaison to promote Design Week RI through all IIDA NE channels
  • Coordinate Design Week sponsorship

Green RI Chair

  • Managing venue contact/coordination
  • Event catering coordination & menu planning
  • Budget coordination with treasurers from other participating professional organizations (AIA RI & ASLARI)
  • Pre-event walkthroughs
  • Attendance and participation at monthly event planning meetings
  • Makes name tags/badges
  • Development of event timeline/schedule
  • Coordinate and direct all “day of” activities
  • Manage all volunteers, including communication ahead of event to make assignments and receive volunteer effort updates
  • Produce and distribute agendas and minutes for all Green RI Subcommittee meetings

Committee meets monthly from November - June with periodic conference calls as needed.  Time and location TBD.

Roundtable Chair 2018

  • Event taking place October/November 2018, chair to start planning work July 2018
  • Managing venue procurement, contact/coordination
  • Event catering coordination & menu planning
  • Work within a budget
  • Find speaker and coordinate presentation
  • Coordinate guest list with city center director and mange invites/wait list  
  • Makes name tags/badges
  • Development of event timeline/schedule
  • Coordinate and direct day of event

Holiday Gala Chair 2018

  • Event taking place December 2018, chair to start planning work August 2018
  • Managing venue procurement, contact/coordination
  • Event catering coordination & menu planning
  • Work within a budget
  • Manage/oversees volunteers
    • Sponsorship
    • Philanthropy
    • Possible design competition team
  • Manages marketing for event with communications team
  • Makes name tags/badges
  • Development of event timeline/schedule
  • Coordinate and direct day of event

Graphics/Communications RI Team Member

  • Year-round involvement, level of involvement changes throughout year
  • Works with Graphics/Communications Liaison and the VP of Communications
  • Develop a way in which event attendees/members can provide feedback throughout the year
  • Work on RI centered yearbook pages
  • Help provide RI content for New England wide communications such as The Wire

Workplace Innovation Committee

(A joint venture between IIDA New England and Design Museum Boston)

Committee Size: 5 (currently 3 openings)

What you'll get: Collaborate with members of the Design Museum Boston Brain Trust to curate quarterly tours of award-winning  workplace projects created by IIDA NE members, culminating in Case Study tours during the annual Workplace Innovation Summit each November.  The committee will identify projects to tour, coordinate sponsorship, transportation  to/from the venue, and catering.  Additionally the committee will work with presenters from the design firms, furniture vendors, owners, and general contractors to develop compelling panel discussions about the innovations behind each space.
