IIDA New England is pleased to announce that a new position has been added to our Board of Directors - a Vice President of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI). This position will share an equal chair and vote as all other Vice Presidents that serve on the Board of Directors, reporting to the Board of Directors and the President. Requirements for serving on the Board of Directors

  1. No person shall hold any office unless they been an Active Member in good standing for at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding election or appointment, and satisfies at least one of the following criteria:
    1. Has served on the Chapter Board of Directors for a minimum of one (1) year;
    2. Has chaired a Chapter committee for a minimum of one (1) year; or
    3. Has demonstrated depth of experience at the Chapter level in the interior design profession and in the business community.
  2. No person shall hold any office while they are active on the Board of Directors, or employed by, any other professional design organization.
  3. The President and President Elect must be Professional Members. All other Board Officers may be Professional, Associate, or Industry Members. Each Member of the Board shall have only one (1) vote, even where multiple positions are held. The Immediate Past President shall be an ex-officio Member of the Board of Directors without the right to vote.

VICE PRESIDENT OF EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION (EDI)

Candidates must be active Professional, Associate, or Industry Members of IIDA and maintain active membership throughout the duration of their term. This position is a two year term. The term will begin upon election (estimated timeline listed below) through June 30, 2023. A second, two year term is allowed if the individual is nominated and approved.

The Vice President of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) shall be responsible for development of chapter EDI programs and creation of resources.  These duties shall include recommendation and supervision of appropriate teams to formulate programs and recommend policies relating to those issues. The Vice President of EDI shall perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the President or Chapter Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Attends all monthly Chapter Board meetings & retreats.
  • Outline chapter mission and deliverables relating to EDI efforts
  • Shall work with the EDI committee to plan and supervise programs related to EDI efforts, outreach, and education.
  • Coordinate ongoing efforts to evolve chapter & city center events & initiatives to be more inclusive.
  • Work with the sponsorship committee to identify opportunities to support the advancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Work with the EDI & Communications committees to ensure chapter & city center communication efforts are inclusive and reach a diverse audience. Interface with headquarters with regards to the EDI initiatives within the organization.
  • Be a resource to the board, chapter, and committees to continue to evolve chapter processes, advancing diversity, and creating a more equitable and inclusive experience for members.

  • Result will be announced to membership by October 8, 2021
