Membership Levels

The International Design Association (IIDA) offers eight levels of Membership.  All levels of IIDA Membership provides you a support network that connects you to peers, clients, and educators while offering you the opportunity to advance your career.  Use the chart below to learn more about each specific level and how to apply.

MEMBER EDUCATION EXPERIENCE EXAM

Professional
Interior Designer

 2-4 years coursework resulting in an Interior Design degree 2-4 years practice NCIDQ
Professional
Architect		 4-5 years coursework resulting in an Architectural degree 4-6 years practice ARE
Associate 2-4 years coursework resulting in an Interior Design or Architectural degree    
Educator 2-4 years coursework resulting in an Interior Design or Architectural degree Current full-time faculty or adjunct professor in an Interior Design program Per requirement for Professional or Associate membership
Student Enrolled in an Interior Design or Architectural program    
Affiliate   Related field such as landscape architecture, lighting design, architectural photography, etc.  
International   Associate or Professional designers located outside of the IIDA Chapters who are active in the field of Interior Design
