JOB DESCRIPTION

The Interior Design Director oversees the interior designing team and works collaboratively with firm principals, marketing, finance, and project teams to develop and define the department’s role within the practice necessary to support the firm’s strategic plan. This forward-thinking leadership position requires exceptional communications skills, active mentoring, interpersonal dexterity and the ability to set a firm-wide quality standard. The Director of Interior Design will work alongside the principals of the firm to reinforce the integration of interior design services with the architectural staff.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Oversees all interior designers. Participate in the performance review of interior design staff.
  • Act as the leader of the Lavallee Brensinger Architects interior design discipline team throughout all offices and locations.
  • Manage, schedule, and coordinate the Interior Design team. Participate in Staffing Meetings and coordinate Vision planning of interior design staff with project leaders.
  • Provide overall design leadership, champion innovation, promote a high level of quality, and foster learning and personal, and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) development within the interior design group.
  • Collaborate with studio leaders and principals to assign the most qualified staff to specific pursuits and projects.
  • Leadership of select projects and Clients through the LBA design process.
  • Monitor Client satisfaction relative to the work of the Interior Design Department both internally and externally.
  • Assist studio leaders and principals with developing scope(s) of work and associated fees for interior design discipline project components.
  • Collaborate with marketing and pursuit leaders in the preparation of RFP related materials, interview prep, and participate in interviews.
  • Participate in overall marketing and promotion of the Lavallee Brensinger Architects interior design brand through all Studios and office locations.
  • Advance your SME in Workplace Design and Lead workplace-specific pursuits and interior design efforts.
  • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and on-boarding of new Interior Design staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution
  • National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Certification.
  • LEED AP, WELL, or similar Certification(s) preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of active Interior Design practice with exposure to a variety of project types including: Health Care, Education, Civic, Workplace, and Senior Living.
  • Proven leadership experience and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with FF&E selection, specification, and installation oversight.
  • Experience with Interior Design Staff management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide vision and leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong teams and developing people.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • Ability to operate in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast and changing work environment.
