Why did you choose to become an Interior Designer?: I've always been aware of how interior spaces make me feel. The layout, finishes, or organization of a space can have a real impact on mood and overall well-being. I like designing spaces that have a positive effect on someone's mood and general welfare. How would you describe your personal design style?: Modern Scandinavian Boho
What three things do you most geek out on?: Knitting, pugs, Madewell What are you looking forward to as an IIDA Emerging Leader?: Gaining skills and techniques to communicate more confidently.
What has been your go-to for de-stressing this year?: Running and pug snuggles with my pug, Poppy. What advice do you have for designer students graduating?: Keep an open mind and don't get discouraged. It will all happen eventually!
What is your favorite annual IIDA event?: Fashion Show How would you explain the difference between a professional Interior Designer vs Interior Decorator to a stranger?: I would say that both Interior Designers and Interior Decorators create aesthetically pleasing spaces using furniture and finishes. However, Interior Designers go further and design the functionality of spaces while considering building and life-safety codes and collaborating with MEP engineers throughout the project.
