EL Questionnaire 2017

Name: Krista Easterly
Company: Bergmeyer
Concentration: Higher Education
College/University: University of Vermont and New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University
Year(s) of Graduation: 2007/2010

If you had to describe yourself in three words, they would be...: Loyal, Bold, Sensible
What is your strongest personal quality: I speak my mind. I am not afraid of voicing my opinion and making sure everyone hears it.
What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?: My dog stole my pillow.
What is your favorite type of music, band or musician?: I love classic rock. A few of my favorites are the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, and Neil Young. But my number one is the Boss.
You've been given access to a time machine; where and when would you travel to?: Although I have absolutely no desire to attend a music fest now, I would go to Woodstock. It was such a pivotal time in cultural history and it would be incredible to say I was there to experience it.
What is your best childhood memory?: For 14 years my family vacationed at a resort in Vermont not far from the Canadian border. It was a week we counted down to everyday, all year long. We made life-long friends here and enjoyed every minute of our time on Lake Champlain water skiing, kayaking, banana boating, and so much more. I have 2 brothers and a sister and I know I speak for them all when I say how special this week was to all of us.
Lesson learned that has benefited you most in your career: “Teamwork makes the dream work”. As cliché as it sounds, a project will never be successful unless you work together as a team. In addition to teamwork, having a good attitude and treating everyone on the team with respect makes a project and yourself so much more successful.
Why did you choose to become an Interior Designer?: I wish I could say I dreamed about being a designer my whole life but, I didn’t. My Mom passed away my senior year of college and left me at a loss for what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I took an administrative job in healthcare after I graduated and hated going to work every day. My degree from UVM was a double major in political science and studio art and I wanted to use my art background but focus it in a productive, more concrete way. After a lot of research, I came across the interior design graduate program at NESAD and the rest is history.
What is one goal you'd like to accomplish in your lifetime?: I want to look back at my life and know that I lived it the way I wanted to. I want to have my pockets filled with valuable relationships and tons of memories. I want to be proud of the work I have completed professionally but, most of all, I want to know I accomplished everything while being happy and with no regrets. Charles Shutlz summed it up best – Charlie Brown: “What do you think you’d like to be when you grow up?” Linus: “Outrageously happy!”
