Meeting Objective: With lighting being such an integral part of any successful Interior Design solution, the International Interior Design Association of New England (IIDANE), as part of our Professional Development Committee and the Illuminating Engineering Society of Boston & Rhode Island (IES-BOSRI) invite you to join us for an in-depth overview of Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting technology and its relevance to Interior Design.

The four (4) options for an Interior Designer’s path to the resources available for knowledgeable LED lighting technology will be discussed.  Relevant LED lighting terminology, such as Correlated Color Temperature (CCT), Color Rendering Index (CRI), R-9 Values, the IES Technical Manual 30 (TM-30), Diode Binning and the MacAdam Ellipse color chart will be covered, all with the intention of increasing the knowledge of those who attend; the end goal being to increase the knowledge of Interior Designers to better design and engage with Architects, Lighting Designers and Electrical Engineers with more confidence when discussing lighting. 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU) Credit’s will be extended to all who attend.

Ira Rothman has been part of the Lighting Industry since the late 1980’s, first as and Electrical Engineer, then as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Metalumen, a Canadian Manufacturer and the last 20 years as Lighting Representative.  Currently as Director of Specification Sales with Apex Lighting, he promotes over 100 Lighting and Controls companies to the greater Boston design community offering technical support, design assistance as well as trains and manages the Apex Lighting Solutions Specification Sales team.

Ira is also the President of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Boston Section and holds the position of Chairman of the District 2 Region of the IES for the Northeastern portion of the United States.

When not working for Apex or volunteering his time for the IES, he enjoys Skiing, Sailing and working out, is married to an Interior Designer and between them, they have six children.
