You’ve grown your herbs all summer, now what to do with them? Join Emily Cring and IIDA NE’s SPARK Series to learn about the history of craft cocktails and how to incorporate herbs into drinks that will impress all your guests! This is a continuation of our Herb tutorial from June where we will all make the cocktail “The Summer Sage” together. This is a virtual event and the first 5 people to register will receive their very own cocktail kit!

MATERIALS

  • Three Sizes: Shooter, Cocktail, Batch Cocktail
  • Three Spirits: Tequila, Whiskey, Vodka (or Gin)
  • Three Herbs: Cilantro (& Mint), Sage, Basil

We will be creating the cocktail together as a group. Materials will be provided for the Summer Sage. Emily will also demo the Shooter and the Batch Cocktail for people to make at home at their leisure.

The Summer Sage Ingredients

  • 3 small plums (pit removed & sliced), as ripe and juicy as possible
  • 4 to 5 sage leaves, stems removed
  • 1/2 ounce brown sugar simple syrup
  • Splash (about 1/8 ounce) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 ounces rye whiskey
  • Ice Tools
  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Muddler
  • Mesh Strainer
  • Coupe Glass or Martini Glass
